| All LASIK
is Not Created Equal
While there are several options for LASIK surgery in
our region, you should be fully informed of exactly how the eye center
you choose will perform your procedure. How old is the technology
they plan to use? Will they provide a custom treatment using Wavefront
eye-mapping technology? And perhaps most importantly, will they perform
the procedure the traditional way, using a handheld blade to cut the
cornea in the first step of the procedure, or will your procedure
be performed using lasers only, for blade-free accuracy and comfort?
At Precision Laser Eye Center, you will be treated with
the latest technology, including our Allegretto
Wave Laser, and the IntraLase
blade-free system.

Many patients are unaware that the first step
of their vision correction will most likely include the use
of a device called a microkeratome, a handheld oscillating blade
used to create the corneal flap necessary for the LASIK procedure.
While this method has seen success over the years, the performance
of these devices can be unpredictable and is often the source
of LASIK complications.
At Precision Laser Eye Center, we’ve done
away with the use of the blade, and now perform every LASIK
procedure with IntraLase, a computer-guided laser which creates
the corneal flap. With IntraLase, the doctor can create a
corneal flap of exact dimensions with accuracy and precision
that are nearly impossible in
a hand-held blade. IntraLase
virtually eliminates the sight-threatening complications that
have been seen with the blade and reduces post-procedure
dry eye, glare, and halo problems.

The Allegretto Wave Laser is the
only FDA-approved laser proven to reduce or eliminate the number
one post-LASIK complaint: night vision problems associated with
glare and halos. Allegretto Wave also features much faster treatment
times—as short as 10 seconds per eye—when compared
to older systems. In addition, your treatment will be custom
designed for your individual cornea shape by the most advanced
technology available—the computer guided Wavefront eye-mapping
system.
